Next up is The Horse Feed Guru in our ‘Take 5 with…’ feature:
With your business – Who, What or Where inspires you?
I have so many people who inspire me. I am actually quite a geek so I have many people who inspire me in different ways, both from a business angle but also from a veterinary and nutritional angle.
If I had to select a company and a place all in one it would probably be the Walt Disney Company so Walt Disney World in Florida in particular. The reason for this, other than it is such a fun place to go (and it is hot which is also a bonus), is if you look at their guiding principles it is about putting the customer and their needs first. They focus on absolute attention to detail, in a really fun and engaging way and have fought so many hurdles and challenges to become the strong organisation they are today.
From a nutritional point of view I really admire Dr Patricia Harris MA PhD VetMB DipECVCN MRCVS (I hope I haven’t left any letters off her name). Her knowledge and commitment to the industry is second to none and I am lucky to have learnt from her regularly when I was younger and a commercial nutritionist. I will be forever grateful for that period in my life. She has given and continues to give so much to the field of Equine Nutrition and is definitely someone I look up to, respect and hold in the highest regard. I regularly read and refer to her work.
What does a typical day look like?
I am not sure if there is any such thing as a typical day, but it ranges from getting out and about to see client horses (although not at the moment of course) to making calls to my remote clients who may reside in this country or abroad. On top of that I also have to maintain my social media and stay up to date with the equine world. I have my own mare Schakira who I like to go and spend time with to chill out.
What’s next on the horizon for The Horse Feed Guru?
I have some exciting things in the pipeline, but I can’t give too much away at the moment so watch this space….
Spreading Positivity During Lockdown – What’s your top tip?
My top tip is to do what make you happy. If you feel you want to spend time on a certain thing or learn a new skill then do. If you have a day when you just want to chill then that is fine as well. Try to focus on what you can do and not what you feel is limiting you to help steer away from overwhelm.

LCC Founder & Creative Director
Hello and welcome to the LCC. I'm a rural-loving mum (of the horse, human and dog variety!) living in Cheshire in the North West of England. For as long as I can remember I have always had a fascination with the great outdoors. Eager to understand the 'how' and the 'why' of the world around us. I created this platform where we can connect and share our love of the the countryside and rural life.
