Hello there, my name is Katie & I am honoured to have the opportunity to write some blogs for this community. Just a quick bit of information about me, I live in Shropshire, right on the Powys boarder, with my husband, my beagle & 2 horses and I run my own cleaning business.
“Isn’t It Amazing What Is Right In Front Of You When You Look Hard Enough!!”
When you are planning a holiday, what are you looking for?!
For me its always been relaxation, good food, good drink (ok just plenty of gin) & somewhere to chill out. Don’t get me wrong I love a wonder round a local town & an odd excursion out, maybe a few water sports when Im abroad. But I have never understood people who go on excursion holidays, walking holidays, etc they are not for me!! (They just sound like hard work to me!)
So for years I have always struggled to see the attraction to Shropshire, why do people holiday here, well the answer has always been the walking/hiking is amazing if you love those sorts of holidays you will love it here.
During the crazy times that 2020 has brought us I have been unable to work & have spent many hours in my garden thinking. We really do have some of the most stunning countryside, dare I say it, the world has to offer, parts of it are truly breath taking.
If you hired one of the many country cottages tucked away on our many hills, you will have the most peaceful & relaxing location you could possible find.
I live just outside Bishops Castle, a stunning little market town with lots of little unique shops. We are also not far from Ludlow a bigger town but also housing many little corner shops selling some of the most amazing unique items.
We have some amazing places to eat from the quaintest little local pubs selling delicious homemade pies, to some of the highest standard restaurants with AA Rossetes. Wether it’s a local gin or an ale brewed in the same town you will find them both in Shropshire.
Even in the rain there is something quite incredible about the Shropshire countryside, you just sometimes need to take the time to look.
So back to my original point if like me, you like to relax & recharge on your holidays. A holiday to a Shropshire country cottage, with fine food & local drinks, relaxing walks through beautiful towns & somewhere with peace & quiet to read that book, might just be what you are looking for.
Now that most of us are finally able to start planning our future holidays & I know some of you will be desperate to escape the craziness that is “normality” why not take a look at a trip to our beautiful county?
