Our group name can be a bit of a mouthful I know but these were the right words to explain what it is I wanted to create. Like Ronseal says it ‘does what it says on the tin’!
After my trip to The Game Fair in 2019 I felt rather deflated after my visit with. I had a pair of comfy breeks on my shopping list for a while but I just couldn’t quite find what I was looking for.
At home I decided to do some shopping around comparing available styles and brands. I headed straight for Facebook as that seems to be the holy grail of opinions and reviews on practically any subject you can think of. But I hit a wall. I couldn’t find a group or a page to do my research…
Where could I go to talk this through the best options and brands?
Was there a ladies only group I could post in?
Was there a place aimed at women and the countryside?
Needless to say I couldn’t answer these questions so I was stuck. This is when the seed in my mind was planted. Maybe I could great somewhere myself?
Coinciding with this lightbulb moment I had an accident on the road with my horse a few days after I got back from The Game Fair. Thankfully neither of us were injured badly (just some bruises) but mentally it had a huge effect on me. All of a sudden I lost my way with horses. I’d never found myself here before. Sounds dramatic I know but I began to question everything and I really was lost with how to move forward. Horses had been my life for so long.
Long story short, I took comfort in other areas of my life I enjoyed – namely my dogs and country sports. So in a roundabout way this incident gave me the nudge to give this a go.
So on 8th August 2019 I took a gamble and started an account on Instagram. A community group, that would become a platform for members to talk, share and learn. An outlet for information, latest news, features, somewhere to shop, discover events and more.
So who am I?…I’m mum to a dog-mad-Peppa-Pig-fanatic toddler, 2 crazy Springer Spaniels and a 17hh Thoroughbred (who I keep on DIY livery nearby) in Cheshire, North West England. In between childcare and animal care I am also one half of a small business The Animal Therapy Hub offering a selection of equine and canine therapy products (can you see the animal link? Haha) and I like to be busy as you can see! I’m very happy to say I am 100% back loving my horsey life once again.
In my moment of wisdom (or madness you decide!) I created this platform not just to help myself but to connect with others who share similar interests and hobbies as me. People like you, your friends, your neighbours, the people in your village.
I couldn’t think of a better name to best describe what it is I’m trying to achieve:
Ladies – well that’s an obvious one. Doesn’t really need much explanation!
Countryside – because although I don’t live out in the sticks or on a farm (as much as I’d love to!), I spend as much time as possible in the great outdoors. It’s a place I love to be in, the place I spend my free time. The place I make memories with my daughter and my family. The place I enjoy my hobbies but most of all it’s a place that makes me happy.
And finally Community – to enjoy the safety, support, and enthusiasm of a group of like-minded people. The internet can be scary place and I’m quite guarded about what I do and don’t post online. The world is changing very quickly, and it seems all too often online trolling and other awful incidents take place. But our online world isn’t all bad. There are real, genuine people out there looking for other real, genuine people who they can connect with.
Thank you for joining us here and I can’t wait to see this special project blossom.

Hello and welcome to the LCC. I'm a rural-loving mum (of the horse, human and dog variety!) living in Cheshire in the North West of England. For as long as I can remember I have always had a fascination with the great outdoors. Eager to understand the 'how' and the 'why' of the world around us. I created this platform where we can connect and share our love of the the countryside and rural life.
